  • Arrival Day: Welcome to Puerto Rico!

    Arrive into San Juan Airport where Offbeat staff will meet you and escort you to your lodging to check in. ¡Bienvenidos a la Isla del Encanto!

    Day 2: Old San Juan

    Spend the day exploring Old San Juan in all its colonial charm. Learn about the history of the city, check out its plazas, and enjoy the laid back nature of this Caribbean city. Mid-afternoon head over for your first taste of the Caribbean and enjoy an afternoon on the beach.

    In the evening we will have an introduction to Puerto Rico, its history, its culture, and it's complicated relationship with the United States.

    Day 3: Zip-line through the Canopy

    After breakfast visit Toro Verde, home to the longest zipline in the Americas - the length of 28 football fields! Enjoy multiple zip lines through the mountains of Puerto Rico, taking in the beauty of the lush forests and breathtaking views.

    Head back to San Juan in time for a salsa lesson before dinner.

    Day 4 & Day 5: Hurricane Relief

    After breakfast, begin your community service work with our partner organization dedicated to assist those affected by the recent hurricane in Puerto Rico.

    In 2017, Puerto Rico was hit directly by Hurricane Maria which was a category five storm. The effects of Maria were devastating, causing massive power outages, destroying many homes, and crippled the infrastructure of the entire island.

    Spend the entire day working on these service projects, and in the evening take a salsa lesson to learn and try one of the island’s favorite cultural pastimes.

    Day 6: Cueva Ventana & Borikén

    Leave the city behind and head towards the interior mountain region. In the morning, visit take a hike through a cave and enjoy the views from Cueva Ventana or the Window Cave.

    Visit the Centro Ceremonial Indígena de Cagüana, one of the most important Taíno archaeological sites in the Antilles. This site was built by the Taínos who inhabited Borikén (the indigenous name for Puerto Rico) and other nearby Caribbean nations such as the Dominican Republic and Cuba. Here you will learn about the indigenous culture, explore ancient plazas, petroglyphs and tools made by the Taínos in this 800-year-old site.

    Spend the night nestled in the Cordillera Central or the central mountain region of the island.

    Day 7: Beach Time

    Head towards Luquillo to spend time by the beach. Spend the day enjoying a beach day out on the beautiful Caribbean sea. Go snorkeling to discover the diverse marine life and relax on the white-sand beaches.

    Day 8: Explore El Yunque

    Get ready for a final day of adventure! Explore El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest System. Take a guided tour through the rainforest, swim in natural pools and enjoy the waterfalls.

    At night, enjoy a kayaking tour in a bioluminescent bay. Puerto Rico is home to three of the five bioluminescent bays in the world! During the tour, learn about the environment, the flora and the fauna, and the million microorganisms that make the bay glow in the dark.

    Day 9: Buen Viaje!
